Verket Involution bygger på ett kroppsligt deltagande där du, tillsammans med en annan person, stiger in och ut ur en skuggvärld, skapad i VR - Virtual Reality, tredimensionellt ljud och sensorer. Du och din medföljare guidar varandra genom instruktioner via hörlurar.

Verket genomförs av två personer samtidigt. Bokar du själv får du genomföra verket med en annan besökare eller med en museivärd. Verket tar 30 minuter att genomföra. På bokningssidan´väljer du dag och tid. På plats i museet hjälper våra museivärdar dig att aktivera verket, som inkluderar sightless goggles, ett spårningsbälte och hörlurar med tredimensionellt ljud.

Om verket Involution

Lundahl & Seitl är en konstnärsduo bestående av Christer Lundahl (f.1978) och Martina Seitl (f.1979) som är kända för sina omslutande installationer där teknologier, ställs intill materiella objekt och den mänskliga förmågan att organisera sin perception till en livsvärld. Genom sin konst omtolkas utställningens medium som en framställning av mellanmänskliga processer genom koreografi, material och tid, där olika sinnen som hörsel, känsel, lukt och syn aktiveras eller stängs av under verkens gång.

Föreställningar om frihet, autonomi och vad som är verkligt omförhandlas i en undersökning av virtuell verklighet, inte som en form av teknologi, utan som förmågan till en relation med omgivningar, andra människor, livsformer och processer. Involution är inspirerad av öppningsscenen i Peter Weiss kultförklarade roman Motståndets estetik som utspelar sig på Pergamonmuseet i Berlin, 1937.

Det hyllade verket Involution ingår i Uppsala konstmuseums samlingar och hade premiär 2021. Under Otherworldly har det nypremiär i uppgraderad version.

Om konstnärerna

Lundahl & Seitl har bland annat genomfört soloprojekt på Royal Academy of Art 2014, Gropius-Bau 2016 och Kunstmuseum Bonn 2017. De har medverkat i grupputställningar inkluderar 8:e Momentum Biennalen - Tunnel. Vision 2015 (NO), 'An Imagined Museum' Centre Pompidou Metz 2016–2017 (FR), den 3:e Kochi Muziris-biennalen 2016–2017 (IN). Hösten 2022 deltog de i artist in residens på Art, Culture and Technology programmet vid MIT, Cambridge (US).

Involution - in English

Lundahl & Seitl’s interactive work challenges our mental resistance to external control. The work can be experienced from 19 October to 10 December.

In collaboration with artist Jaime Reyes and choreographer and dramaturge Rachel Alexander.

Involution builds on your physical participation together with one other person. Together, you will step inside a shadow world created by VR – virtual reality, 3D sound and sensors. You and your companion guide each other with instructions through headphones.

The work is carried out by two people simultaneously. If you book by yourself, you will complete the work with another visitor or with a museum guide. The work takes 30 minutes to complete. On the booking page, you choose the day and time. On-site at the museum, our museum guides will assist you in activating the work, which includes sightless goggles, a tracking belt, and headphones with three-dimensional sound.

About the artwork Involution

The artist duo Lundahl & Seitl consists of Christer Lundahl (b. 1978) and Martina Seitl (b. 1979), known for their immersive installations that juxtapose technology with material objects and the human capacity to organise perception into a life-world. In their art, they reinterpret the exhibition format as a presentation of interpersonal processes through choreography, materials and time, where hearing, touch and sight are activated or blocked as the works proceed.

Notions of liberty, autonomy and reality are renegotiated in an exploration of virtual reality, not as a form of technology but as the ability to relate to our surroundings, other people, life forms and processes. Involution was inspired by the opening scene of Peter Weiss’s iconic novel The Aesthetics of Resistance, which is partly set in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin in 1937.

About the artists

Lundahl & Seitl have presented solo projects at the Royal Academy of Art in Stockholm (2014), Gropius-Bau (2016) and Kunstmuseum Bonn (2017). Group exhibitions they have participated in include Momentum 8 – Tunnel Vision Vision in 2015 (NO), 'An Imagined Museum' at Centre Pompidou Metz in 2016 – 2017 (FR), and the 3rd Kochi-Muziris Biennale in 2016 – 2017 (IN). In autumn 2022, they were artists in residence at the Art, Culture and Technology Program at MIT, Cambridge (US).
