Live Podcast: Plants and Us
Research over the past several decades has shown that plant intelligence is far more complex and multifaceted than Western science has previously acknowledged. Plants communicate, interpret and learn. They warn one another of danger and act intelligently in their relationships. These new insights challenge our ideas about more-than-human forms of life – could they signal a shift in how we relate to the rest of the living world?
In conjunction with Eija-Liisa Ahtila’s exhibition A POSSIBLE IMAGE – of what is just becoming reality, this conversation explores an expanded understanding of non-human lifeworlds and the entanglements between human and plant intelligences.
Professor Cecilia Åsberg’s research explores cultural ideas of “nature” and “the human”, while journalist Abigail Sykes has written and lectured on plant intelligence and communication. The event takes the form of a live podcast, presented in collaboration with Forest of Thought Podcast and hosted by Ingrid M. Rieser.
