Christopher Long is a Swedish-American painter born in 1982 in New York and currently living and working in Uppsala. He holds a bachelor's degree from The School of Visual Arts in New York and a master's degree from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. This exhibition holds a selection of his paintings.
From the Uplands Art Association's motivation:
… for his sensual and existential artistry where he depicts the small details of life and the world around him with curiosity and care. Christopher Long paints landscapes and plants with an intense feeling and presence. It is about the big in the small and the small in the big and he sees and clarifies the contexts and relationships in our existence here and now.
It can be experiences of lush grass, dry cracked branches, rustling leaves, scents and silences that are awakened through painting. With a highly driven color scale and surreal feeling, Christopher Long paints a world that creates reference to our own images, experiences and feelings of natural places.
