An Abstract World

What happens when art no longer represents something we recognize? In An Abstract World you meet artists from the 1950s to the present day who, with color, form, and free expression, explore how we perceive the world around us.

Abstract art emerged in the early 20th century. Instead of depicting reality, artists began to express feelings, ideas and moods. By letting go of representation, new ways of seeing – and feeling – were opened up through art.

In the exhibition you will see works that play with visual impressions and break with traditions. The works invite your own interpretations and make room for what we cannot always put into words.
