Discover the collection at Uppsala Art Museum, which includes more than 14,000 works of art and design.

The Uppsala Konstmuseum collection includes more than 14,000 works. It consists of regional and Swedish paintings from the 20th century to today, drawings and watercolours, sculptures, installations, objects and video art. Nearly half of the works in the collection are prints in various techniques and from many different eras, going back to the 16th century. We also have a large number of ceramic pieces from Upsala-Ekeby.

Discover Uppsala Art Museum's collections, which consist of more than 14,000 works of art and design objects.

The collections consist of several different collections. They include regional and Swedish paintings from the 20th century onwards, drawings and watercolours, sculpture, installations, objects and video art. A large part, almost half, is graphics in various printing techniques with works from the 16th century to the present day. There is also a large collection of ceramic objects from Upsala-Ekeby.

Ceramics

Ceramics, especially objects from Upsala-Ekeby, form a large part of the collection. There are some 1,300 pieces, consisting of the more artistically oriented output from the earthenware Upsala-Ekeby factory.

Prints

Nearly half of the works in the collection are prints in various techniques. including works by international iconic artists such as Niki de Saint Phalle, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso, but also established Swedish artists such as Lena Svedberg, Lena Cronqvist and Carl-Johan De Geer.

Themed Exhibitions With Works From the Museum's Collections

Right now, parts of the art museum's collections are being displayed in various locations in the museum. Some works can be seen in the reception and stairwell, others in the café but also in themed exhibition halls. Currently, "Place and landscape", "See the human", "An abstract world" and "War and peace" are on display.

More About the Collections

The collections are constantly changing. New works are added and new knowledge is added when they are shown in different exhibitions. In this way, art history is also created and re-created.

The past and the future

Building and presenting a collection is a conscious and dynamic process. The collection forms a baseline that can be arranged and featured in new constellations according to current themes and exhibitions
